Comfrey is one of the most popular medicinal plants for external use and its name is derived from the Latin 'conference' which means 'to bring together. It has been used for centuries for its anti-inflammatory capacity when bones were to be set and the healing process hastened, thus earning the herb its common names, 'Knitbone' and 'Boneset'. The chief (and most important) constituent of comfrey root is allantoin which promotes wound-healing and accelerates the regeneration of cells.

About this brand: Born from a background and knowledge of herbs, Hilde Hemmes is the creative and inspirational energy behind her family-owned company, Herbal Supplies Pty Ltd. As Australia’s leading therapeutic herbal tea manufacturer, Hilde and her family take pride in being independent, competitive, flexible and fully integrated, and their commitment to herbalism is still as strong as it was when the company was founded in 1985.
Over the years Hilde has collected many rare, out-of-print books on herbs and their uses, and has discovered many valuable recipes and ancient formulae that may otherwise have been forgotten. She made a significant contribution to the Australian herbal industry as a pioneer of Swedish Bitters (a multi-purpose tonic) and the herb Epilobium parviflorum (also known as ProstaLobium® ) which has traditionally been used in western herbal medicine to maintain/support prostate health.
